William Funnell rewrote the history books this week, becoming the first ever rider to jump clear in the Hickstead Derby on two horses in the same year.
William's wife Pippa Funnell complemented her husband's historic achievement saying
"Every once in a while we witness outstanding performances from both horses and riders.
I am going to boast now because I am so incredibly proud of my husband and the exhibition he gave in the Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby at The All England Jumping Course, Hickstead.
It was a masterclass seeing him jump two horses clear round this world renowned iconic class, a feat that no one else has ever accomplished.
He demonstrated the true horseman he is, giving these two giant gingers, Billy Diamo and Dublon every chance to excel."
William supplements EA Billy Diamo on Equine America Xtra Boost.
It was a great weekend for William Funnell and Equine America's Billy Marmite and Billy Diamo in Oliva.
EA Billy Marmite took the win in Saturday's Gold final - 1.50m - Trofeo Oliva Nova Beach & Golf Resort - with EA Billy Diamo taking 5th place in Sunday's Grand Prix, the 1.50m - Trofeo CHG - Construcciones Hispano Germanas S.A.
Talking about EA Billy Marmite, William Funnell said:
“Marmite has fantastic talent but he is a very sensitive horse with a lot of blood. I now supplement him with the Equine America Super So-Kalm paste before competing, since using the paste he has become more settled allowing his focus to improve. It’s these small details that make the winning difference”
And of EA Billy Diamo, William said:
“My focus and goal over the last 3 weeks for Billy Diamo had been todays 3* Grand Prix, he is a big horse and jumping in the heat can take it out of him. So today I supplemented him with Xtra Boost from Equine America, it gave him the edge I was looking for, he felt energised, jumped fantastic and was a super way to end our tour”
